A micro gear pump is a compact positive-displacement pump designed to move liquids through a small and precisely engineered pumping mechanism. It uses the rotational movement of internal gears to create changes in chamber volume, allowing fluid to be drawn into the pump, carried through the housing, and discharged at the outlet. Compared with conventional gear pumps, micro gear pumps are specifically designed for applications where compact dimensions, reliable fluid delivery, and efficient use of installation space are important.

A typical micro gear pump consists of a pump housing, driving gear, driven gear, shaft, sealing components, inlet, and outlet. During operation, an external motor or drive mechanism rotates the driving gear, which in turn engages with and rotates the driven gear. As the gears turn, small cavities are formed between the gear teeth and the inner surface of the pump housing. These cavities carry fluid from the inlet side to the outlet side, creating a continuous pumping action.

Micro gear pumps are classified as positive-displacement pumps because they move a defined volume of fluid with each revolution under given operating conditions. This characteristic allows them to provide consistent fluid delivery and makes them suitable for applications involving lubrication, cooling, hydraulic systems, and other fluid-transfer processes. Their compact construction also makes them particularly useful in small machines, automated equipment, precision instruments, and systems where installation space is limited.

The performance of a micro gear pump depends on several operating factors, including fluid viscosity, rotational speed, pressure, temperature, gear geometry, internal clearances, and manufacturing accuracy. Different applications may require different flow rates, pressure capabilities, materials, and sealing solutions. Selecting the appropriate pump therefore requires careful consideration of the actual operating environment and the properties of the fluid being handled.

As industrial equipment continues to become smaller, more precise, and increasingly automated, micro gear pumps are finding applications across a growing range of industries. They can be used in lubrication equipment, automotive components, medical instruments, hydraulic systems, automated machinery, and other fluid-control applications. Continued advances in precision manufacturing, material engineering, and sealing technology are expected to further improve their efficiency and reliability, expanding the role of micro gear pumps in compact fluid-handling systems.
