Dense Castings for Pressure and Welding Applications

We produce aluminum alloy gravity castings for applications that need good material density and structural integrity. Gravity casting is different from high-pressure die casting. The molten aluminum is poured into a permanent mold under gravity only. There is no high-pressure injection. This means the casting has fewer internal pores and less shrinkage than die castings. This process gives denser castings. They can be heat treated for higher strength. They can also be welded. And they can hold pressure. If your part is a pump body, valve housing, reducer housing, or construction equipment aluminum component, gravity casting is a better choice than die casting.

  • Materials, Tolerances, and Mechanical Properties

Our common materials are A356 and ZL101. The dimensional tolerance is CT7 to CT9. The surface roughness is Ra12.5 to 25 micrometers. The minimum wall thickness is 4 millimeters. We perform UT Level 2 inspection to control pores and shrinkage. After casting, we do T6 heat treatment in our car-bottom resistance furnace. The A356 material in the T6 condition achieves a tensile strength of at least 220 MPa. The yield strength is at least 140 MPa. The elongation is at least 3 percent. We can also arrange welding if you need it. The dense structure of gravity castings means fewer welding defects.

  • Lower Mold Cost for Small and Medium Batches

Gravity casting has another advantage. The mold cost is lower than low-pressure casting. This makes gravity casting more economical for small and medium batch sizes. If your production volume does not justify the higher tooling cost of low-pressure casting, gravity casting is a good alternative. We have a dedicated gravity casting shop with permanent molds and pouring equipment. We can produce small to medium-sized aluminum components in this shop.

In-House Testing and Documentation

Our testing lab has a spectrometer for chemistry analysis. We have a universal testing machine for mechanical testing. We have an ultrasonic flaw detector for internal defect inspection. Every batch comes with a material report and mechanical report. Important parts include inspection reports. We are certified under ISO9001:2015. These quality processes are part of our daily operation. The minimum order quantity is 1 piece. We support custom orders based on your drawings. The sample lead time is about 3 months.
